BT Foundation

The Baker & Taylor Foundation was founded in 2009 to provide financial assistance to those in need during a crisis situation. Whether it means helping a family recover from a tragedy or supporting employee volunteer initiatives, the non-profit Baker & Taylor Foundation is committed to assisting our employee base and the local communities we serve.   The B&T Foundation has one specific goal: to demonstrate our compassion and concern for others through giving to those who need assistance due to a crisis.

In addition, we have given 17 college scholarships through the Jean Srnecz Memorial Scholarship Fund to deserving students of Baker & Taylor employees.

The Baker & Taylor Foundation remains committed to all of our employees. Not just those suffering from personal crisis, but those employees who donate their time for worthy volunteer activities and support other non-profit organizations. Through the B&T Foundation’s efforts, we have been able to positively impact hundreds of our employees over the past decade. With your ongoing support, we will continue to support our Mission of providing individuals in crisis with assistance for today and hope for tomorrow.

SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK

Second Harvest provides food for over 700 partner agencies including soup kitchens like Urban Ministries, emergency pantries like Loaves and Fishes, homeless shelters like the Uptown Men’s Shelter and Center of Hope, senior programs, and low-income daycares. In Mecklenburg County, Second Harvest Food Bank provided over 11 million pounds of food and household items to partner agencies in 2015-2016. With the dedicated and continued support from the B&T Foundation, our contributions help to work towards the ongoing fight to end hunger in our area.

Volunteer service is an essential key to help in the Second Harvest's endless endeavors to fulfill their mission. Volunteers help to inspect and sort food or non-food products that will be boxed and distributed to their partner agencies.  One hour of your time provides Second Harvest with $21.88 in labor savings. Last year, over 40,000 volunteers donated 162,000 hours and there is still more work to be done! Their annual savings with volunteers equals $3.5 million dollars! These savings are dollars that are used to feed more hungry people.
